Job Summary

Provides radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Designs, plans and oversees installation and maintenance of wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition, and ancillary equipment. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
Position will be based out of Sacramento, CA office and provide expert level technical engineering services to Sprint's operations in Lower and Upper Central Valley markets.
  • Successful applicant will be a SME on LTE optimization and design, and familiar with Nokia and Samsung implementations of both FDD and TDD LTE services. Successful applicant will have track record of demonstrating technical project leadership within a RF engineering team and using KPI/PCMD based data sources to establish optimization best practices across multiple markets.
  • Defines direction and provides specific instruction for engineering projects/programs leveraging personal knowledge and organizational skills to increase team efficiency, facilitate personal development and mentor colleagues and manage team of multi band optimization engineers.
  • Requires minimum supervision. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinates optimization projects between Sprint RF, Delivery, OEM and contractors.
  • Must be able to explain detailed and technically complex ideas to personnel from RF engineers and managers up through C level executives.
  • Must have valid driver's license, three consecutive years of active driving history, successfully complete driver's safety training, and otherwise comply with Sprint's Driver Safety Policy and guidelines.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of LTE Networks (TDD and FDD) and a minimum of two years of experience with LTE design, implementation and/or optimization.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
  • Three years RF engineering experience working with radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout and parameter definition
  • Two years project management and project implementation experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to lead aggressive optimization plans and timelines that will be instrumental in addressing network KPIs, capacity needs and coverage enhancements as well.
  • Proven ability to take large scale complex options and communicate in a concise message to leadership.
  • Professional with latest Atoll and Planet design tools
  • Ability to interface with SMEs/consultants and leaders from other organizations (National RF, ND, Product, Sales, OEM Vendors, etc.)
