Job Summary

Network Engineer III, Sprint Corporation, Overland Park, KS


Serve as a Microwave Engineer for the cellular/wireless telecommunications system. Plan, design and Implement networked systems of very large scope and very high complexity. Provide Engineering services and project management functions required to develop and implement very complex network plans. Projects include technology changes within the platforms, new implementation of guidelines or standards, capacity analysis and planning, network optimization, database maintenance, specific vendor troubleshooting and coordination with tower crews for fix actions of poorly performing or out of service microwave links, analyze switching, interconnection, national platforms and backbone facilities. Conduct project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons for existing and planned networks for cellular and digital mobile phone and data transmission networks. Remote work is authorized.


Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or related field plus 6 years of related experience. Related experience must include 5 years in each of the following: Microwave Design; Microwave Propagation, including Fresnel Zones, Near Fields, Reflections Refractions and Diffraction, Multipath, Climatic factors, K-Factors, c-Factors, Diffraction Algorithms, identify radio configurations, antenna types, Waveguide types, and all components in a typical radio rack, identify terrain features that cause various anomalies such as ducting; Microwave network topology design, including path selections, route diversity options, methods and process, capacity planning, and frequency selections; Microwave radio setup, operation and troubleshooting; and Microsoft VISIO and Excel (used to look up formulas and charting, and run reports). Related experience must also include 4 years in the following: Pathloss 5 Design using summary, terrain data, antenna heights, worksheets and profiles, diffraction, reflections and multipath. Additional experience must include: LOS Survey Report Validation & Coordination; PCN Coordination support and FCC Filing Support, including frequency coordination and frequency planning, using FCC Rules and coordination, channel planning, and bandwidth requirements; Google Earth Pro; MapInfo Professional; Transport Network designed with MW Backhaul utilizing 4G (WiMax & LTE); and Transport Network designed with MW Backhaul utilizing Small Cell technologies.
