Job Summary

Leads efforts to evaluate, analyze, and architect network changes. Develops solutions for system improvements and provides end to end expertise regarding multiple platforms utilized by the network. Interfaces with other teams to provide impact analysis on upcoming system integration changes and resolve potential issues. Advises on upgrades to corporate infrastructure, systems, and network, and creates solutions for conflicts caused by system, network, and application changes. May develop and lead initiatives for designing and building new systems, improving system performance and system automation.

This position is in the Network Core - Data Services Design and Architecture (DSDA) team which leads all new business unit projects including collection and refinement of requirements, creating and optimizing end-to-end design options, working across all technology lanes (RAN, Core, Device, IT and Digital) to ensure alignment on approach and designs. This is a horizontal job function that provides design and architecture for end-to-end system design for the entire Network core including Enhanced Packet Core (EPC), Subscriber Data Management (SDM) and IMS elements. Key job functions are as follows:

  • Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions and provide high level system architecture and design.
  • Clearly define solutions that provide system level view based on standards based solutions.
  • Author system level design documents including call flows. Review platform level design documents and make sure all system level design aspects are covered in design documents.
  • Develop E2E call flows and author specifications required for vendor development.
  • Work with cross functional teams covering IT, Core, RAN, Product and Security to create Architecture solution that satisfies network and business needs.
  • Work with vendors for product roadmaps, release management and ticket resolutions.
  • Build productive relationships across various organizations, Business Units, Product Management, Care, Supply Chain Management, Operation and Fraud management teams

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
• Four years of System Engineering experience
• Four years of experience leading technical projects
• Four years of experience troubleshooting complex end to end systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with wireless technologies (LTE, eHRPD, CDMA) including 3GPP standards.
  • Experience with 3GPP/3GPP2 framework especially EPC, SDM, IMS and Policy elements.
  • Experience in System Engineering concepts is a plus.
  • Experience with interpreting 3GPP specifications, vendor documents and interface specifications.
  • Knowledge of LTE, VoLTE call flows is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects end-to-end, in a cross-function environment, from conceptualization to launch, including but not limited to requirements gathering, design, development, integration, testing, deployment and launch.
  • Demonstrated ability in delivering in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability in troubleshooting complex issues related to system integration and database client interfaces.
  • Demonstrated ability in producing concise specifications and design documents for use by peer teams and vendors for development and testing.
  • Experience with data modeling in XML, XSD, XSLT, SPML, LDAP, RADIUS and DIAMETER.
  • Experience with or willing to contribute to release management, vendor management and project management.
  • Experience with UNIX shell scripting and Perl/Python. Other programming experience with C++ or Java is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CDMA, LTE and Billing/Provisioning architecture is required.
  • Knowledge of authentication theory and authentication methods.
  • Experience in mobile data network authentication and authorization.
  • Familiarity and experience with data network protocol capture and analysis using Wireshark, TShark, PDML and XSLT.
  • High level knowledge of IP routing, firewalls, Ethernet switches, Unix/Linux OS, Apache server.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience in large scale software deployments with multiple considerations across platform types.
