Job Summary

RF Engineer III, Sprint Corporation, Reston, VA

Provide radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Design, plan and oversee installation and maintenance of wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition, and ancillary equipment. Manage, engineer, and optimize Sprint's diverse 3G and 4G vendors networks in a dynamically changing RAN environment consisting of multiple vendors with overlapping network coverage. Define network standards and RF Engineering best practices, and ensure those standards and practices are followed by Field Engineering teams via tracking/auditing processes. Define network FDD and TDD LTE parameter settings including multi-band load balancing, traffic management, ANR, SON, and LTE Scheduler values. Analyze data to understand and identify impact of parameter and software feature changes to determine optimal network configurations. Develop and publish LTE standards, guidelines, and best practices to support improved network performance and meet national Sprint KPI and Competitive Benchmarking targets. Lead targeted parameter and software feature testing and analysis for Sprint LTE TDD and FDD networks. Create and analyze Network KPI data reports, identify trends, and clearly report results with supporting data to other engineering teams and executive leadership. Engage and work with OEMs on troubleshooting issues, testing network configurations, and developing KPI improvement plans. Develop and implement VoLTE deployment and RAN optimization plans in conjunction with Core engineering teams, to deliver end-to-end performance equivalent or better than current Sprint CDMA Voice network.



Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related fields and five years related work experience. Experience should include: three years RF engineering experience working with radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout and parameter definition; three years’ experience troubleshooting, testing, creating operational processes and procedures (including RF Engineering standards and guidelines), and RAN systems integration; three years’ experience with RAN RF planning and optimization, creating automations and troubleshooting performance issues during deployments. Experience must also include two years RF Engineering project management leadership and project implementation experience; two years’ experience with RAN equipment suppliers including Samsung and/or Airspan. One-year experience with at least one of the following RF Drive testing and UE Log Analysis tools: Windcatcher, Agilent E6474A/JDSU, QXDM and Spectrum Analyzers AND experience with at least one of the mapping/scripting and/or RF Database management tools: XCAP, Tableau, Mentum Planet, Mapinfo, and Atoll; one-year experience with 3GPP Standards & Latest releases for 4G, VoLTE & 5G.
