Job Summary

RF Engineer III, Sprint Corporation, Overland Park, KS

Serve as Subject Matter Expert in technologies such as CDMA, EVDO, LTE & VoLTE, and analyze vendor recommendations for the network to ensure technical goals and business objectives. Use design tools such ATOLL and Alteryx to generate RF predictions for identifying poor coverage areas, identifying optimal azimuth and tilt settings and maintaining an updated database. Engineer to be equipped with knowledge of microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition, and ancillary equipment. Responsible for design of all sites types, inclusive of Macro cells, Mini Macro/Small cells, Repeaters, oDAS, and iDAS. Work to improve network performance and customer experience through key KPI metrics such as call failures, call drops, downlink and uplink, SINR, RSRP, RSRQ, BLER, and MCS distribution. Understand Layer 3 Messaging and protocols between the device and cell station for RF troubleshooting. Perform LTE capacity optimization of multi-carrier and multi-band load equalization. Create RF design sheets, CIQ’s and NST’s for new site integration and commissioning. Actively communicate with all stake holders as key issues arise in new technologies or features become available for implementation. Comply with Sprint’s Driver Safety Policy and guidelines.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree plus 4 years of experience. Related work experience must include: demonstrated experience with OEM (Ericsson, Samsung, and Nokia) hardware such as baseband units, radios, passive and active combiners; experience with various antenna models, patterns, performance and limitations such as fading and minimum spacing limitation. Experience must also include CDMA, EVDO and LTE scripting using network tools such CACP, CPS, OSS-RBS element manager, Samsung-LSM, and Nokia NETACT; demonstrated experience with LTE\\CDMA\\EVDO OMs and their implications; experience troubleshooting user issue through call trace records and call summary logs; use of OEM tools including Newtun, ERA, or related in conjunction with ATOLL ACP (automatic cell planning) to improve targeted KPI including SINR, RSRQ, RSRP; experience with signal analyzer, signal generators, scanner, spectrum analyzer, antenna and RF filters. Remote work is permitted, however, at least 25% travel is required to the surrounding areas of Albuquerque, NM and El Paso, TX.
