Job Summary

RF Engineer III, Sprint Corporation, Phoenix, AZ


Provide radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Design, plan and oversee installation and maintenance of wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition, and ancillary equipment. Responsible for end-to-end RF optimization activities for LTE FDD, LTE TDD, CDMA, and EVDO. Serve as Subject Matter Expert in technologies such as CDMA, EVDO, LTE & VoLTE, and analyze vendor recommendations for the network to ensure technical goals and business objectives. Responsible for network expansion and deployment, including ensuring coverage and capacity through addition of network nodes for all solution types (i.e. Macro cell, Mini Macro/Small cell, Repeaters, oDAS, iDAS, etc…). Perform LTE optimization of multi-carrier and multi-band load equalization. Monitor LTE/CDMA/EVDO KPI daily and hourly; identify problems and provide solution. Work to improve network performance and customer experience by improving call failures, call drops, downlink and uplink throughput, SINR, RSRP, RSRQ, BLER, and MCS. Work with Layer 3 Messaging and protocols between the device and cell station for optimization. Work within ALU hardware BBU, controller card, modem card, CCU, CCE, RRH. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Actively communicate with all stake holders as key issues arise in new technologies or features become available for implementation.


Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or related field, and three years’ related work experience. Alternatively, employer will accept Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or related field, and five years’ related work experience. Related experience should include: Three years’ experience in RF engineering experience working with radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout and parameter definition; LTE experience (design, optimization and capacity); Project implementation experience required; ALU; Mapper, Google Earth, JDSU, Agilent, Windcatcher; WPS, XCAL, XCAP; Antenna theory, radio propagation theory; 3gpp and 3gpp2; Nokia-A tools WPS, SAMB and NPO; Drive data collection and depth analysis; and IMCR and traffic management between multiple carriers. Experience also required in: CDMA or EVDO experience (design, optimization and capacity); Ericsson; Atoll, Planet, NetAct, OMP, OMCRAN; Siterra, NRM; Sam-B; and MIMO, Transmission Mode.
