Job Summary

Researches, designs, plans, develops and/or evaluates new, advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design for projects of highest complexity and multiple technologies. Conducts in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality. Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve very complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • This is a technical leadership role as part of Sprint's LTE RAN development team. As such, you will be responsible for LTE feature analysis, design and implementation including but not limited to multiple antenna techniques, radio modem design and operation, MAC scheduler optimization and RAN parameter optimization.
  • A successful candidate must be able to research RAN features and translate them into test methodologies and build consensus around optimal settings.
  • A successful candidate must be able to conducts in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve very complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • You will be responsible for specifying, implementing, and executing verification tests for 4G (LTE) mobile devices during the integration and validation phases of the product lifecycle. Specific duties will include development of end to end architecture documentation, test plans and test procedures based on user scenarios and use cases.
  • Successful candidates must be able to manage LTE technical feature life-cycle from development through implementation and communicate at an executive level.
  • Successful candidates must be able to work across diverse teams of other design and development engineers of a vendor's wireless radio communications systems, including the remote radio heads, base band units, element management systems, and small cell related products
  • Requires extensive RAN Development or RF Engineering experience and knowledge of industry practices and company policies/procedures.
  • This position requires coordination and rationalization across Sprint Network Development, Network Engineering, Device Management, Product Management, Information Technology (IT), and Program Management teams to define and support Development for LTE and associated network technologies.
Ideal candidates should have:
  • Prior network development and/or network engineering experience working for an infrastructure RAN vendor
  • Experience working small cell design, development and engineering
  • End to end system engineering and architecture expertise
  • Ability to synthetize technical data from multiple vendor implementations
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactive with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable to a dynamic work environment
  • Master’s of science or electrical engineering with a minimum of 10-12 years of experience

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
  • Three years experience with research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission
  • Two years project management and project implementation experience
