Job Summary

Responsible for developing and managing internal financial audits. Directs a section or group of auditors in conducting the most complex internal finance audits and risk assessments. Supervises daily activities including the coordination and administration of internal auditing assignments. Interfaces with outside auditors to expedite their work. Verifies accuracy and ensures compliance with plans, policies and procedures prescribed by management. Develops formal reporting systems to communicate audit results to management and regulatory compliance agencies, and makes recommendations as appropriate. Tests and documents the financial and operating system processes for information integrity of transaction documents. Selects, develops, and evaluates employees to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Auditor Project Managers (APM) lead teams to perform independent assessments of Sprint’s financial, operational and IT processes. Serving Sprint management and the Audit Committee of Sprint’s Board of Directors, audit teams partner with client departments to analyze and solve critical business issues, seeking opportunities to increase revenues and decrease costs. The results of the Auditors’ efforts serve as a catalyst for change throughout Sprint.

Through exposure to numerous business processes and organizations, Auditors develop a global view of Sprint and the telecommunications industry. APMs are assigned to approximately 4-8 audits/projects per year and can expect to travel approximately ~5% of the time. They are typically assigned teams of approximately 2-4 auditors. There is also an opportunity to work on special projects.

APMs will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of an audit engagement from planning through reporting. They will work with the audit team to develop the scope and objectives and an overall audit approach that effectively achieves those objectives. They will provide coaching and counseling to team members along with feedback and will perform a detailed review of all work performed by Auditor I’s and II’s. They will drive preparation of the final report, incorporating input from the audit team, management, and clients. Finally, APMs will be responsible for presenting audit findings to various levels of management.

Candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Analytical Business experience in a fast paced environment leveraging key skillsets such as problem solving, initiative and action orientation
  • Ability to quickly grasp audit process and adapt to applying in various business areas
  • Self-motivated to deliver work product that contributes to a team work product
  • Demonstrated ability to review processes and identify the related underlying IT system functions

  • Ability to travel ~5% (may include weekends)
  • Position is located in Overland Park, KS and not eligible for relocation benefits

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
  • Three years project management experience
  • Two years leadership or supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years’ experience with Project management, team lead, or supervisory experience (average team size 2+ individuals)
  • Familiar with IT Governance and Information Security best practices and frameworks
  • One or more years’ experience in delivering performance feedback to team members
  • CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CFE, CPA, or CIA professional certification encouraged (not required)
  • Two or more years’ experience with data analytic tools (i.e., ACL, Microsoft Access, SQL)
  • Experience with different business functions a plus (e.g. Finance, Information Technology, Network, Marketing, Payroll, HR, Security, Fraud, Sales, Procurement)
