Job Summary

Network Engineer III, Sprint Corporation, Overland Park, KS

Develop IP Core network system architecture, call flow and design to meet the needs of the evolving business requirements. Work with cross-functional organizations and coordinate an in-depth assessment of the system and functional requirements to gain in-depth understanding. Document system design, network call flows, interface specifications, operational and performance requirements, and IP routing configuration required to enable application or service functionality within the wireless IP core network. Work within a lab environment to design the prototype or testing of different use cases to validate system architecture and design. Responsible for installation, integration, testing, and deployment of new DHCP and/or DNS services or network elements to support Sprint’s wireless services such as VoLTE, small cell deployments, and various infrastructure initiatives. Support IPv4 and IPv6 of the internetworking protocol design to address the scalability and service shortcomings of the current standards. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within the end-to-end call flow. Ability to present technical demonstrations, issues, and solutions to upper management.

Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree plus 3 years of experience. In the alternative, Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineer, Computer Science, or related degree plus 5 years of experience. Related work experience must include: one-year project management and project implementation experience including experience working with wireless evolved packet core (EPC) and how the radio elements interface into the EPC. Must have extensive experience configuring and troubleshooting network routing equipment (i.e., switches, routers, firewalls, and associated equipment) and how to construct and maintain IP networks, including how the IP routing is configured to each device and how IP routing is configured from an end-to-end call flow perspective. Must have demonstrated expertise with SSL and TCP/IP technologies; DNS, IMS, and DHCP technologies within a wireless carrier network supporting both VoLTE and LTE technologies. Must have demonstrated experience with packet analysis and network protocol dissection using tools such as Wireshark and preparing, reporting, and reviewing test plan and Methods of Procedure (MOP) documentation. Must have experience using Anycast with BGP Dynamic routing protocols using BFD. Experience working with 3G CDMA, VoLTE, and LTE call flows and how DNS is used to complete these call flows.
