Job Summary

The Relay Specialist relays telephone conversations between hearing or speech-impaired customers using a computer or TTY and a voice customer using a regular telephone. Utilizes ability to listen while simultaneously typing to enhance the customer interface. Maintains confidentiality of all calls and tolerates stress of emotional dialogues. This is a multi-incumbent position. Reports to Supervisor.

Flexible working hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 8:00pm

Good articulation and pleasant speaking voice
Grammar and spelling assessments required with 90% accuracy.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to type a minimum of 60 wpm with 85% accuracy
  • Understanding of ASL and deaf culture
  • Good articulation and pleasant speaking voice

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with deaf culture and/or American Sign Language is helpful but not required.
