Job Summary

Responsible for the most complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of completion of accurate financial statements and general ledger accounts in accordance with U.S. GAAP and other accounting regulations. Prepares complex managerial reports and financial statements for internal and/or external use. Analyzes and evaluates appropriate methods and techniques to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Provides functional guidance to less experienced staff.
The Financial Reporting Accountant III will support the completion of select footnotes in the annual and quarterly reports (Forms 10-K and 10-Q). The accountant is responsible for the preparation of various single-entity financial statements for statutory, contractual, and debt compliance requirements. The accountant will also be responsible for supporting various ad-hoc financial reporting projects including financial statement requirements for non-routine transactions. The accountant will regularly interact with personnel in various functions across the company as well as external auditors.
  • Assists with the preparation and coordination of financial statements, footnotes and Management's Discussion & Analysis as required for SEC filings including, but not limited to Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K and debt and equity transactions within the SEC reporting application.
  • Completes the preparation and validation of XBRL detail tagging.
  • Prepares single-entity financial statements (benefit plans, bondholder reporting, etc.)
  • Analyzes data provided by other team members to ensure reasonableness, accuracy, consistency and the proper application of U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical abilities, critical thinking and attention to detail, with a desire and commitment to take full ownership and accountability for his/her area of responsibility.
  • Able to work with detailed information, while also being able to define the larger/underlying issues and drivers.
  • Assists with SOX and the annual audit and quarterly review requirements.
  • Completes the annual and quarterly SEC disclosure checklist.
  • Maintains internal controls for reporting processes and SEC filings.
  • Researches emerging accounting pronouncements and SEC standards to analyze relevance to the Company's financial statements.
  • Other special projects and analysis as required.
  • Professional maturity with high standards for accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
  • Three years accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to financial reporting, either while employed by a public company or a public accounting firm
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS and SEC reporting rules
  • Experience preparing financial statements and related disclosures
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting research skills
  • Solid understanding of SOX compliance and best practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organization
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting applications such as Workiva
