Provides radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Designs, plans and oversees installation and maintenance of wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition, and ancillary equipment. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
Utilize a calculated risk approach to resolve performance related challenges with new 3G and 4G multi modal BTS equipment and antennas. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Leverage personal knowledge and organizational skills to increase team efficiency and facilitate personal development on engineering projects/programs. Provide in-depth analysis and troubleshooting of network performance and optimization of handoff’s and system parameters across multi bands – multi technologies, troubleshoot and work with vendors on Inter Frequency Hard Handoffs, Optimize eCSFB handoff’s between 4G LTE and 3G networks. Address capacity needs, and coverage enhancements. Take large scale complex options and communicate in a concise message to leadership. Interface with SMEs/consultants and leaders from other organizations (National RF, ND, Product, Sales, OEM Vendors, etc.)
Must have valid driver's license, three consecutive years of active driving history, successfully complete driver's safety training, and otherwise comply with Sprint's Driver Safety Policy and guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
- Three years RF engineering experience working with radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout and parameter definition
