Job Summary

Manages the team for designing, modifying and managing activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production and release and into maintenance of the product and end of life decision. Serves as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test and quality as the product(s) move to completion and distribution. Interacts with marketing, sales, technical support, QA, manufacturing to ensure that products have necessary features, cost parameters, manufacturability goals and reliability targets. Promotes investigation and application of new technologies and industry trends to product management activities. Manages the activities of individual contributors or supervisors in a section or department with accountability for goals, objectives, operational policies. Participates in the development of functional strategy. Has responsibility for hiring, termination, performance and salary decisions.
This position will have the responsibility to construct an overall detailed technology approach to the Internet of Things (IoT) marketplace. Need to rapidly analyze and construct, methods and business process to attract developers and businesses to bring their connected devices to the Sprint network. The work effort is to create the ability to onboard an IoT development partner through both rapid and very easy process steps. Metrics will revolve around a low cost, low unique effort methodology for an IoT development partner to achieve onboarding their IoT equipment for Sprint.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
  • Build overall substantial plan to support IoT device and service on boarding process.
  • Develop technical IoT device strategy for product roadmap purposes.
  • Prioritize highest value approaches to support customer IoT onboarding process.
  • Analyze competitive strengths and weaknesses.
  • Work cross functionally with Network, IT, and other business groups to best understand and best deploy customer value based IoT approach.
  • Derive minimal technical requirements for module manufacturers.
  • Develop strategy to attract module manufacturers to build for Sprint air interface(s).
  • Document step by step IoT process. Produce the least friction approach to onboard IoT devices.
  • Improve current certification processes for device module suppliers.
  • Recommend system improvements to best support IoT onboarding and ongoing account management.
  • Provide executive summary status and executive guidance for best economical approach to IoT marketplace.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
  • Eight years product design experience
  • Five years Project Management experience
  • Three years supervisory or management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten years overall experience in wireless.
  • Five years experience with IoT processes.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Familiar with other carriers IoT processes and competitive positions.
  • Business case development.
  • Vendor management experience that includes contracts development experience.
  • Knowledgeable of device ecosystem, module suppliers, and module components as it relates to RF radio interfaces.
  • Knowledgeable of device module manufacturers.
  • Experience / knowledge of Sprint’s competition and their IoT practices / systems a plus.
  • Proven Innovative leadership, motivate and drive others to contribute to a shared vision.
