Job Summary

Manages the activities involved in the design, preparation, delivery and needs assessment of training and development programs for the company. Develops and/or approves content, methods, and materials for training staff and may conduct courses. Develops methods for evaluation of program effectiveness. Leads cross functional meetings to collect information relevant to the content of instructional material under development. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team. Manages the activities of individual contributors with accountability for goals, objectives and operational policies. Participates in the development of functional strategy. Has responsibility for hiring, termination, performance and salary decisions.

  • Collaborate with other internal departments (Staffing, HRBP, Operations, IT and Learning) to forecast needs, develop and deliver training plans/resources, receive training delivery feedback, and solve problems including attrition and retention issues.
  • Responsible for the quality of training delivery, classroom administration, instructor training, effectiveness, and certification, tracking and measurement of new hire and supplemental training, and the performance of graduated employees.
  • Plan and execute all budget-related actions including, but not limited to: annual operating budget projections, invoicing and expenditures based on business demands. Anticipate and seek out opportunities with continuous attention to cost avoidance.
  • Participate directly as required in operational reviews, development of region/area plans, and resolution of training conflicts, issues, and performance concerns.
  • Provide logistical support and leadership for course development, delivery, evaluation, process measurements, and cost management of the training department.
  • Function as the company's point of contact for all training delivery concerns.
  • Maintain close contact with Area and Region teams
  • Provide training performance feedback to the training team including monitoring sessions, evaluations, performance improvement planning, coaching and feedback.
  • Works closely with other internal teams on standardized delivery, process compliance, quality, and enterprise solutions teams to analyze results, prepare solutions, implement initiatives, improve performance, and coordinate activities.
  • Proven track record to conduct analysis and determine root cause to identify performance gaps and solutions

This position may also be filled in Livonia, MI or Reston, VA
  • Working knowledge of Consumer Sales and Service methodology
  • Ability to operationalize Area or Region wide training programs from launch to impact analysis
  • Ability to compile and report team results to ensure ongoing improvements to our business
  • Develop multiple training plans based on staffing forecast models and requirements, performance improvement plans, and new or expanding program to ensure flexibility in our approach
  • Responsible for the quality of training delivery, classroom administration, instructor training, effectiveness, and certification, tracking and measurement of new hire and supplemental training, and the performance of graduated employees
  • Plan and execute all budget-related actions including, but not limited to: annual operating budget projections, invoicing and expenditures based on business demands. Anticipate and seek out opportunities with continuous attention to cost avoidance.
  • Experience working with multiple clients and multiple lines of business
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating training delivery including performance evaluations, performance improvement planning, coaching, and feedback sessions.
  • Proficiency at curriculum design. Experience in evaluating, developing and implementing new or revised training modules as necessary.
  • Experience in project management including leading projects that require coordinating resources within or outside of the training department all the way through successful implementation including on time delivery against a deadline. Preferable experience would include projects that are multi-site, or enterprise wide in scope or leading simultaneous projects.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and negotiation. Team and consensus building is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, flowcharting, and project management software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Consumer Sales and Service methodology
  • Ability to operationalize Area or Region wide training programs from launch to impact analysis
  • Ability to compile and report team results to ensure ongoing improvements to our business
  • Ability to travel nationwide at least 50% or more
  • Ability to work weekends and nights based on market need

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
  • Five years experience developing instructional materials and specialized training
  • Five years experience with project management and project implementation
  • Three years supervisory or management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year classroom training experience
  • 1+ year experience in Microsoft Word / PowerPoint / Excel
