Job Summary

Leads the strategy and implementation of impactful programs/campaigns in communities where our employees/customers live and work. Collaborates and engages executives in support of community initiatives, mobilize volunteers nationwide, maximize philanthropic efforts and build relationships with key strategic national and local partners.
The 1Million Project (1MP) is a powerful collaboration between Sprint and the 1Million Project Foundation. As a non-profit organization that sits within Sprint, the 1MP’s mission is to transform the lives of low-income students across America by providing devices and internet access to 1 million high students who do not have internet connectivity at home.

We also believe students need and deserve the right tools to translate their efforts into meaningful outcomes. The Community Affairs Manager position plays a pivotal role in helping the 1Million Project achieve its mission. As one member of our approximately fifteen-person team, the Community Affairs Mgr will help lead the implementation of 1MP’s multipronged fundraising strategy. In addition to supporting targeted fundraising efforts championed by 1MP’s leadership team, the Community Affairs Mgr will have direct responsibilities for specific areas within the overarching strategy.


Specifically, the Community Affairs Mgr will provide fundraising support and leadership in the following five areas: funder research; targeted grant writing; donor cultivation and relationship management; regional event coordination and support and strategy thought-partnership. The Community Affairs Mgr is expected to work collaboratively and strategically - internally and externally - in ways that model a mission-focused orientation; a growth-mindset; a high degree of promptness, professionalism and efficiency; a bias towards action; and a spirit of servant leadership.

  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence and the ability to build authentic relationships with well-resourced individuals and organizations.
  • A willingness to travel as necessary (approx. once per month).
  • Being detail-oriented and highly organized, with a penchant for being exceptionally responsive.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
  • Three years program management experience
  • Three years of experience with community outreach in a corporate or not-for-profit setting
