Job Summary

Responsible for the design, build, merchandising and ongoing support of the company owned retail and dealer channels. Manages programs and/or projects with limited scope that support our field sales partners. Cross functional development, implementation or delivery of new or existing projects. Directs project or program ownership. Responsible for in-store design, overall experience from the employee and customer viewpoints to include Music and Video content, end-to-end process design for store builds, vendor management, uniform programing, fixture design, fixture inventory accountability including forecasting & budgeting, break-fix for both hard and soft goods, plan-o-gram creation, compliance and communication, and POP/Collateral ordering and inventory management including forecasting.
The Merchandiser will be responsible for the design, build, merchandising and ongoing support of the company owned retail, dealer and other retails sales channels as required. The position requires an understanding of retail construction and build strategies, project management, business and management objectives to ensure timely and accurate communications and operational success of retail build and remodel projects.

The Merchandiser manages programs and/or projects with limited scope that support our field sales teams including implementation or delivery of new or existing projects. Responsible for consistency with in-store design, overall experience from the employee and customer perspective, end-to-end process design for store builds, vendor management, fixture inventory accountability including forecasting & budgeting, break-fix, compliance, communication, and POP/Collateral ordering coordination and inventory management. This includes cross-functional, detailed coordination with internal teams and external vendors supporting the development and deployment of projects.

Key Position Accountabilities:
  • In-store fixture coordination including test fit review, fixture take-off, shipping/logistic coordination, installation, punch-list compliance and invoice reconciliation across various store formats and channels.
  • Integrated program management supporting new product/program launches and services including OEM and vendor relationship management. Tactics include but not limited to the following: store displays, installations, decommissions and store remodels.
  • Planning, production, and management of fixture assets.
  • General and operational project management knowledge/skills.
  • College degree from accredited college or university.
  • Minimum four to six years progressive work experience in marketing and/or communications related fields, including project or program management experience.
  • Previous experience in retail merchandising or other industry with design/build and related resources.
  • Familiarity and comfort level in working in fast-paced, matrix-managed work environment.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills as well as solid, analytical, program solving, and decision-making skills. Strong attention to detail a necessity.
  • This position based in Overland Park, KS. No relocation funds are available.

Additional Department Information:
The Sprint Retail Communications & Merchandising team is a center of expertise for all store design, visual merchandising, and marketing communications for Sprint retail distribution. We seek to achieve corporate, marketing and sales goals while delivering a positive, differentiating brand experience at retail. Specifically, the team plans and develops a positive customer experience through the store environment. We plan, design, develop, and implement all aspects of store design ranging from small product displays up to and including full retail concepts.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two years related work experience or six years related work experience post high school
  • Two years experience using merchandising concepts, practices and procedures
  • Two years experience with project management and project implementation
  • One year experience presenting information through oral and written communication

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS/BA/MBA in following majors: Business, Retail Operations, Project Management, Design/Construction.
  • Mastery of standard Microsoft software products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project.
  • A team player with strong leadership skills who thrives in a deadline based, fast paced work environment.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with a keen creative eye that has the ability to operate independently within the confines of the position.
  • One year design experience.
  • Telecommunications/Wireless/Technology knowledge or experience.
  • Ability to work on and execute a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Previous experience in specialty or mass retail organization.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
