Job Summary

Telecom Design Engineer III, Sprint Corporation, Reston, VA

Research, design, plans develop and/or evaluate new, advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design for projects of highest complexity and multiple technologies. Work typically includes in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality. Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve very complex issues in creative and effective ways. Support the solution design, requirements documentation and development required to implement network solutions for complex business requirements. Support the technical development of lab design and architecture, test strategy, test cases, test case automation, validation processes and analysis related to the platform requirements, capacity and performance testing, hardware and software releases, and parameter validation.


Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecom Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 5 years of related experience. Related experience must include: deploying and testing major software and hardware upgrades and custom software releases of Nokia One-NDS (SPS) and Nokia HSS for the relevant platform; developing, optimizing and automating Nokia One-NDS and Nokia HSS test plans to improve testing processes and efficiency, performing software regression testing, new feature testing and bug-fix testing to ensure system meets documented user requirements; using test tools such as HP ALM, JMeter, and TOP; TPD preparation DFARF preparation and connectivity checks; writing, maintaining, and updating Nokia One-NDS technical documentation; Nokia One-NDS and Nokia HSS capacity planning, solution design, production network monitoring, performance analysis and diagnosis. Knowledge of EPC and IMS architecture and call flows; UNIX; One-NDS, HSS, netAct; LDAP, SOAP, XML, X.500, PSQL, IPSL Nokia Tool, Wireshark, SS7, Diameter, RADIUS, Scripting languages: Perl, Unix, Shell Scripting, Python.
