Job Summary

Researches, designs, plans, develops and/or evaluates new, advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design for projects of highest complexity and multiple technologies. Conducts in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality. Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve very complex issues in creative and effective ways.
The Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) Test Engineer will be responsible for supporting LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) system verification and certification process for all end-to-end requirements on Sprint’s NFVI lab. Initial call flows include voice-over-LTE and voice-over-WiFi feature functionality and load and performance testing. Specifically, this engineer will support the NFVI lab administration, requirements review, test plan creation, test execution, trouble-shooting, and root cause analysis. In addition, this engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of a test automation framework that will be used to support NFVI lab and FIT certification activities for all VNFs.This position requires coordination with Sprint Network Development, Network Engineering, Device Management, Information Technology (IT), Operations, other System Verification groups, and Sprint’s vendor teams to define and support conformance test suites in the NFVI Lab.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and eight years related work experience or twelve years related work experience post high school
  • Three years experience with research, design, planning and development of new advanced network technologies, network components and radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission
  • Two years project management and project implementation experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree.
  • At least ten years of Subject Matter Expertise (SME) level work experience in design and/or lab environment.
  • Ability to validate and create EPC and IMS test architecture and requirements, network impact assessments, parameter validation, and capacity and performance test analysis.
  • Ability to define testing processes, strategy, and test cases for the EPC and IMS platforms.
  • Ability to leverage test tools for EPC and IMS performance validation, include Landslide and Ixia.
  • Strong knowledge of the details of voice call flows and voice core platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IP transport integration
  • Ability to self-perform and to take initiative to identify and solve problems to meet business needs.
